Lizingo ("we", "our", "the app") is a homework helper application for families. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following information when you use Lizingo:

• Family data: A family code and parent name.
• Child profiles: Name, age, avatar, and learning preferences (difficulty level, topics, languages).
• Homework data: AI-generated math questions, reading stories, answers submitted by children, and session results.
• Chat messages: Messages exchanged between parents and children within the app.
• Push notification tokens: Device tokens used to deliver notifications.

2. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

We process your personal data under the following legal bases as defined by the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

• Consent: You provide consent when creating a family account and adding child profiles.
• Contract performance: Processing is necessary to deliver the Lizingo service you signed up for.
• Legitimate interest: We may process data to improve the app and ensure security, where this does not override your rights.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To generate personalized homework content using AI services.
• To track learning progress and provide feedback to children.
• To enable communication between parents and children.
• To send push notifications about homework assignments and completions.
• To schedule automated homework delivery.

4. AI Services

We use third-party AI providers (Anthropic Claude, OpenAI, Google Gemini) to generate educational content. When generating homework:

• Your child's age and learning preferences are sent to the AI provider to generate age-appropriate content.
• No personally identifiable information (names, family codes) is sent to AI providers.
• Requests to AI providers are made using a server-provided key.

5. Third-Party Services

In addition to AI providers, we use the following third-party services:

• Expo Push Notifications: We use Expo's push notification service to deliver notifications to your device. Your device push token is shared with Expo for this purpose.
• MailerSend: We use MailerSend to send transactional emails (e.g., welcome emails). Your email address is shared with MailerSend when sending these emails.

6. Cookies and Analytics

Lizingo does not use cookies or third-party analytics trackers. The app does not track your browsing activity across other websites or apps.

7. Data Storage and Security

• All data is stored on servers located within the European Economic Area (EEA).
• All connections use encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS).
• Authentication uses unique bearer tokens per family.
• We do not sell or share your data with third parties beyond the services described above.

8. Data Retention

Your data is retained as long as your family account exists. Homework sessions, messages, and results are kept to provide progress tracking. You can request deletion of your data at any time (see section 11).

9. Children's Privacy

Lizingo is designed for use by families with children. Child profiles are created and managed by parents. Children interact with the app under parental supervision. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children without parental consent.

10. Your Rights

Under the GDPR, you have the right to:

• Access the data we store about your family.
• Request correction of inaccurate data.
• Request deletion of your family's data.
• Request restriction of processing or object to processing.
• Data portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
• Withdraw consent at any time by discontinuing use of the app.
• Lodge a complaint with the Norwegian Data Protection Authority (Datatilsynet) at www.datatilsynet.no.

11. Account and Data Deletion

You can delete your family account directly from the app by navigating to Settings and selecting "Delete Account". This will permanently remove all personally identifiable information, including family codes, names, push notification tokens, and chat messages. Anonymized and aggregated data (such as homework completion statistics) that cannot be linked back to your family may be retained for service improvement purposes. 12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
